HEC Announces Green Energy NOW!
Video Contest Winners

(Indianapolis, IN) - The Hoosier Environmental Council today announced the winners of its first-ever statewide video contest, "Green Energy NOW!"

Aimed at providing Hoosiers of all ages with a fun and creative way to share how they are fighting the effects of climate change in their daily lives and why they are advocating for federal clean energy and climate legislation, the winners of the inaugural contest are:

GRAND PRIZE: 

Nick Hess, media producer, Indianapolis

Video title: "Who Would Be Against Green Energy?"      

MOST THOUGHTFUL VIDEO:                 

Anthony Baratta and Taylor Cantril, students, DePauw University

Video title:  “DePauw Environmental Policy Project + Climate.edu”

MOST CREATIVE VIDEO:

Natalie Edler, freelance editor, Carmel

“It has been a pleasure viewing the submissions for our video contest,” said Jesse Kharbanda, HEC’s executive director.  “The extraordinary talents and passion of Hoosiers were clearly on display.

 “With the debate over climate and energy legislation set to kick into high gear in the Senate next week, we’re hopeful that Indiana’s Senators, Evan Bayh and Richard Lugar, will hear the message that we heard repeatedly in the videos:  the time has come to do something about climate change, break our dependency on foreign oil, and start building the clean energy economy of the future.”
